Let me start off by saying a whole lot of unexpected grievances happened on this tour. Three dates were missed due to them but at the end of it all, the group of guys in Widmore and myself are stronger and closer because of it. If you follow me on any social media you are probably already aware of the fact that we suffered two break-ins on the tour and after the final which left us lost of all of our personal possessions it was time for us to go home and skip over the Vancouver Island dates. While I am disappointed to not be reacquainted with the beautiful weather and landscapes of the island I am happy to move on from the experience and continue to work with such a strong group of people in the future.

Tour Blog: Widmore + Calling All Captains
It seems that I have been doing a lot of small Western runs this year! It was lovely to add this one to the list and for it to also be the last tour I would take on until 2019. Originally, I was invited out by Widmore, to which I collected a bunch of photos and videos for and then on my previous tour I was approached by Calling All Captains to also take some images for them. It was fantastic! I have to say being able to work with Widmore bringing their own lights was such a treat. It made every day of the tour easy and consistent. I love being able to truly study a bit more of a band and get inside of their show and performance, in a way making my own internal performance as I follow them.

Calgary being a home-town show for myself and Widmore we had expected it to be pretty wild, especially when tickets technically had sold out two days before the show. Pushing it a little further, an additional couple of tickets were left at the venue for a few more people to come in. The one nice thing is that the McHugh house is right off of one of the busiest streets in Calgary. There’s going to be filtration of people no matter what. I personally was freaking out over the amount of people there. The house is old and I have a lot of respect for it and the fact that CJSW wanted to take over a venue for the sake of allowing bands to play all-ages shows, something that a lot of cities struggle with. By the time Widmore was setting up there were so many people compacted into the space I was convinced I would hate all of my images. I was definitely wrong, and I am so glad that I was proved wrong.

After spending the night in a beautiful place in Victoria (Thank you for sharing your place with us, Ben!), we went off to the fairy to Vancouver. Coming up to the docks, we saw the extraordinarily long line up, a line up that heavily contrasted with the one that we took coming from Horseshoe Bay to Nanaimo. What this meant, though, was that for the first time on the whole tour we were meeting up with Calling All Captains somewhere that wasn’t a venue. Before boarding we all sat in the van listening to music and talking about future plan outside o the tour. When we heard a voice over the intercom we all scrambled into our respective places and vehicles and boarded the fairy. I was, finally, able to take some captain like images of the Captains before we escaped the wind and went inside for some fries.
At the end of the night we made sure to grab a group photo, as well as a photo that should have been taken months ago: Widmore and Carmin, the Canadian Warped Tour crew. It was a really lovely way to end off the night as well as the tour since I had to depart with them before a final house show that they were playing in Kamloops. Instead, I went to Carmin’s and had a miniature editing party in her living room. The tour was really lovely to feel this collaboration with Widmore as a band, specifically, talking about our opinions on venue light and how to make it work, or not work, with the lights that they brought on the tour as well as for every show that they play. Being able to live in the same city as these guys is also relieving and takes the stress off of having to say goodbye to a group of people at the end of a tour. Here’s to many other shows and tours in the future.
